37TH  LEGISLATURE  • U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS • DEMOCRATIC  CANDIDATE

For the past decade I've dedicated my life's work to sharing the importance of owning our island nation's story from my NiteCap Live initiative in our public schools, film apprenticeship program at the University of the Virgin Islands and Dear USVI town-hall meetings to draft legislation on address gun violence. Now, I look forward to expanding upon these programs and crafting policy that pens a story defined by innovation and prosperity, the one I've long envisioned since graduating Ivanna Eudora Kean. I was already honored to be celebrated as a "Living Legend of Culture" and now ask for your support so I can continue to serve our beloved community. - Peter Bailey

Read my New York Times Op-Ed

"Has America forgotten the Virgin Islands ?" which brought global attention to the islands in the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria.

We always tell the next generation to dream, but I believe we must bring the dream to them, hence my reason for introducing NiteCap Live to our territory’s junior and high school students. In this interactive educational program students learned TV and media production by working alongside industry professionals and interviewing the stars they admire thus bolstering their chances for success outside of the classroom.

When hurricanes Irma and Maria ravaged our islands in 2017 I took it upon myself to share our story and capture our community's most resilient chapter in recent memory with the award-winning "Paradise Discovered " film series which help to foster the growth of filmmaking in the territory and ultimately led to the creation of the Unbreakable Film Academy apprenticeship program in partnership with the  University of the Virgin Islands in which apprentices are trained for a career in film and digital media production. The film series has also been used in classes at Stanford, Brown, William & Mary and other universities alongside being added to public libraries in New York City, Toronto, Los Angeles and as far as Singapore.
